The next generation of spaniels from late 2017 were definitely a little more refined. Two more color options were added (available in hot pink hats with black spots, light blue hats with dark blue spots, and light pink hats with brown spots) and did a complete overhaul of the face design. The cuts also were becoming a little smoother as we made more of these. The dogs would stay the same for awhile from here. The light blue ribbon hangers lasted through 2018 and were replaced that holiday season with navy.
Who says something good can't happen in 2020? This holiday season, we decided to switch it up once again. I don't want to brag, but we think these are the best yet! We changed up our hat color offerings: Christmas green, orange, and two versions of blue this year! We also added rose gold toned hang chains to give these puppies a little more movement and sparkle. The felt ball of the Santa hat has been moved to the wayside and upgraded with a fluffy pom pom, because these pups are just the right amount of extra. We've also refined the outer blanket stitch and added dressier gingham ribbon hangers (almost the entire line of ornaments have switched to gingham ribbon, so everything will still coordinate if you like to mix and match!).

I just bought my first pair and can't wait for it to be cold enough to break these out. These are handmade, one pair at a time, in Maine (Yes, let's say that again for the people in the back. THESE ARE STILL MADE BY HAND. How cool is that?!?). You know you're getting a quality pair of boots and you're gonna look hella cute while you stay warm and dry. Pumpkin spice latte and scarf optional.
Golden retrievers and golden leaves seem made for each other. Such a fun take on the fair isle sweater. Take a peek at their whole collection.

This vintage painting was sourced from an estate sale of a watercolor artist and would look so lovely with farmhouse decor. The colors are super vibrant and so much fun, plus you can never have enough original artwork in your home.
This travel tumbler is so stinkin' adorable y'all. Blue and white + ghosts = my favorite things.
Love a good faux pumpkin. I never have to worry about it rotting and it will stay pretty year after year. Plus, these are just so darling! What more could you ask for?
These gingham tags are so sweet and would be perfect for wrapping around a Thanksgiving hostess gift like a bottle of wine or a candle.
This pillow pretty much sums up how i'm feeling lately. I love graphic pillows and think they're so cute on a statement chair.
I adore bright and colorful home decor and this pillow certainly fits the bill. That combo of pumpkin orange and soothing blue gives me all the heart eyes.
I'm really into overalls this year. Like, really into overalls. Maybe I'm channeling my inner Joanna Gaines, otherwise, this jumper is the best of both worlds, cute, but super easy to wear. This one features the most adorable embroidered apples, which makes this the outfit of choice for apple picking, visiting the farmers market, etc... Just imagine how cute this would be paired with tights and Hunter boots!
How pretty would these be scattered around an autumn tablescape? I love the hints of chinoiserie and the nod to coastal decor. These would be a perfect fit in my decor.
Bead Studio and Design on Etsy
I first came across velvet pumpkins last October and was very intrigued. Anytime I can buy something that doesn't have to be replaced the next year, I'm in. These come in a set of 3, which is even better! Instant grouping!
I just purchased this rug for my youngest son's bedroom and it is definitely love! The burnt oranges, terra cottas, and splashes of french blue are perfect for fall and would be a quick way to make an entryway more fall festive. Did I mention it is stain resistant!
I love groupings of ginger jars, like this one. Pair a few in different sizes and shapes on a mantle with some mini pumpkins and a wood bead garland.
Did someone say "wine"? Made from vintage corks and hand painted, each one is unique. These place card holders, with included blank cards, are sure to impress your dinner party guests. When you're not entertaining, these make a great bowl filler! How gorgeous would these be in an entryway in a blue and white vessel?
I'm OBSESSED with camp blankets right now. I've started a small collection that I'm keeping in our nursery in a cute stack. I'm imagining cozy evenings wrapping ourselves up and reading bedtime stories, or taking them out to the fire pit to roast smores (in reality, these will most likely be used in blanket forts for the boys). This plaid wool blanket is so subtly fall and yet still works with a blue and white color scheme.
Glacier Bay National Park Blanket
Pendleton
This is one of the blankets that I bought and absolutely love the Hudson Bay style stripes. If I could, I would wrap myself, my car, and my home in these stripes;)
I may be stuck on fall, but my love of all things coastal never dies. This handmade necklace marries my loves perfectly. Wood beads add that fall warmth and would pair so nicely with a blanket scarf poncho, black turtleneck, jeans and riding boots.

I'm so excited to finally share the finished interior pictures of the Lilly Pulitzer x chinoiserie "Chic Shed" with everyone that's been following along. If you're new to Lemon House Design, I'll fill you in on the backstory.
I had my second baby last summer and had every intention of keeping my in-home studio as it was and having my children share a room (little house problems). Unfortunately, that plan went sideways and it became apparent that cohabitating was not going to be an option for those two (womp, womp). So I moved my office out and a second nursery it became. So, what's a designer to do with no office space? Build a temperature-controlled she-shed in the backyard, of course. It was a long journey from conception to build-out, but it was well worth it in the end. It really turned out much better than my original studio (an absolute mess most days, since it was all too easy to quickly throw toys and laundry in there when company was headed over or to hide Christmas presents behind projects). Being able to plan all the details to make every square inch functional for what I use the space for was the icing on the cake.
When thinking about the decor, I tried to think about the things and places that made me the most happy. Going to the Pink Retreat every year for a girls getaway saves my sanity as a stay at home mom. I decided Palm Beach chic was the clear way to go (Check out this post if you want to take a look at the inspiration board). This little house truly does give me all the heart eyes and I can't wait to get to work in here.
Original Art.
Would you believe I found a pair of these amazing carved wood bamboo frames at Goodwill for $2! One coat of gold leaf paint later and a Lemon House Design art print, and this frame is ready for it's closeup. The bottom painting was swag from the first Pink Retreat (Lilly Con!). It's an original signed Lilly watercolor painting created by one of their talented print artists!
The Ironing Station.
I made a custom desk-top ironing board with Lilly Pulitzer fabric. One of my biggest pet peeves with my previous studio space was having to go to another room to setup an ironing board every time something needed to be pressed while sewing. The new ironing board is huge and I only have to roll my chair around the room, making my work go so much faster. The best part is that it easily removable from the desk, allowing me to spread out if working on a different project.
Pretty Storage.
These pink Ikea Sockerbit bins worked out perfectly for storing all of my supplies (mostly corks and pom poms). I added holographic labels, cut with my Cricut machine, to each one to make it even easier to finish a project and put everything back in it's proper place when I'm done.
An Inviting Workspace.
Pale pink stripes and the famous "Brazilliance" banana leaf pattern...What more could you ask for?
A Bright and Airy Place to Work.
The Desk.
Lettuce ware, coral, a Kim Hovell oyster print, and my needlepoint bag - All of my favorite things:) Above the work surface, I installed Ikea Eket cube storage with space for all of my felt, organized by color. The shelving inserts are handmade to fit whatever brand of cubes you may have and I highly recommend them for fabric or paper storage. I painted them white to match the rest of the furniture (shop them here).
The Ginger Jar Mural.
A Lilly Pulitzer style mural was just what the space needed to add an element of the unexpected to an otherwise uneventful corner.
This is my favorite spot in the shed, clearly. This is not only a workspace, but a place for me to relax and unwind. This vintage Lilly caftan is seriously to-die-for as well.
]]>So I wanted to share the low down on how to install a faux boxwood wall like the one I recently did in the chic shed! I had originally planned on doing a wallpaper accent wall, but decided I needed something I could get done in an afternoon while the kiddos napped. This project was surprisingly easy and not terribly expensive, considering how much it was going to cost to do wallpaper. Plus, the installation was a lot less labor intensive and it was easy enough to do on my own (bonus!). Besides looking pretty luxe (if I do say so myself!), it gives the space a natural element, which is great because I can't keep a house plant alive to save my life.
So here’s my before! For this wall, that included a door and a window, it required 4 packs of the boxwood squares. The cost was about $115 (I already owned the staple gun, so only had to buy staples and the panels).
My super plain Jane wall before...
Supplies:
Your first step is to figure out how many panels you need to buy. The panels I purchased were 20" x 20" and came in a pack of four. For me, I’m super visual so it was easier for me to draw my wall out on paper to scale. I then made a template for the 20" x 20" panel and laid it out on the drawing mapping out my cuts and how many would be needed.
Once that was out of the way and my panels arrived, it was time to start hanging! I started at the top of the wall and worked my way down. The panels were very easy to cut to size with scissors. I just held them up to the wall to measure and then would cut them as I went. I saved all the excess for any little areas that needed coverage. I used the staple gun to staple down all four corners of each panel and anywhere else that wasn't laying quite flat.
Stapling away...
Coming along nicely...
When working around obstructions like light switches, I just held the panel up to see where it needed to be trimmed and then cut away the area. It was a lot easier cutting small pieces to fit around the light switch then to cut a hole in the middle of a panel.
This whole process took a little over an hour and this is the finished product! Easy peasy and it added so much visual impact! This is the part of the shed people always notice first and it makes such a great backdrop for photos!
Be on the lookout for more pictures of this fabulous wall coming soon! I'll be posting the big reveal of the shed interior here on the blog!

In the late 1960's, the iconic lettuce ware became a popular pick with the preppy set, including Jackie Kennedy and C.Z. Guest. Originated by Palm Beach native Dodie Thayer, each piece was sculpted by hand and we're cast from actual lettuce and cabbage leaves. Her large tureens could take up to 2 weeks to create.
An example of a Dodie Thayer tureen. The detail is incredible!
Now that you know the backstory, I thought I'd share all the fabulous Lettuce Ware and inspired goods that I'm currently digging!
1. Lettuce Ware Placemats - Lemon House Design
These handmade-to-order fabric place mats also serve as chargers, creating the perfect perch for blue and white dishes! As if these couldn't get any better, the reverse side is bright pink!
2. Vintage Yellow Cabbage Plates - Chairish
These vintage plates are the sweetest shade of yellow (if you know me, you know lemon shades are life in my house). How pretty would these be mixed with pink or green?
3. Gold Cabbage Earrings - Laurence + Usher Ceramics
How adorable are these earrings? Created by hand by third and fourth generation ceramicists. Features 22K gold lustre top and a cabbage leaf drop. Since they're handmade, each pair is completely unique! Did I mention these are available in berry????
4. Lettuce Ware Dinner Plate - Set of 2- Pale Pink - Tory Burch
Thayer collaborated with Tory Burch a few years back to create a new line of mass produced lettuce pieces, making this iconic design accessible to a new generation (and a better price point than the vintage originals). I'm pretty obsessed with the pale pink color!
5. The Kathleen Collection Pillow Covers- Katie Herman Art
I'm pretty sure I need one of these in every color. So fun!
6. Cabbage Print Fabric- Spoonflower by storylinecaroline
This fabric is sold by the yard and is also available in wallpaper! How amazing would this be sewn into an apron or a spring tablecloth?!? So many possibilities (as if I didn't have enough sewing projects to tackle...)
7. Vintage Dodie Thayer Jupiter Lettuce Leaf Earthenware Porcelain Luncheon Plates - Chairish
No list would be complete without some Dodie Thayer originals! That shade of green is oh so dreamy.
8. Cabbage Chandelier- Bordallo Pinheiro
Cabbage Ware meets light fixtures, need I say more....
9. Vintage Lettuce Divided Platter- Lemon House Vintage on Etsy
This 1960's era serving dish is just the right accent for the mid-century tablescape! How perfect would this be for serving appetizers?
]]>Chintz covered chairs
And preppy patterned shift dresses.
Needlepoint pillows and IKEA organization to hide all of my messes.
Pretty brass hardware with matching drapery rings,
These are a few of my favorite things.
But, I digress...here’s my inspiration board for the project!
1) Pittsburgh Paints - PPG1001-1 Delicate White: I worked as the in-house interior designer for a paint store for several years and this is by far my fave white of all the brands! Bright, but with a hint of warmth (no blue tones here), this white is like pure sunshine.
A Work in Progress - The Freshly Painted Walls
2) The Colony Hotel - My inspiration: I've been a huge fan of Carlton Varney and Dorothy Draper since I began my interior design career (feels like a lifetime ago!) and The Colony is A WORK OF ART! Fun fact: I'm a Pink Retreat "original" and my love of Lilly Pulitzer brought me to the hotel for the first time. I go every year with my best friend and have met so many wonderful Lilly sisters here over the years. When deciding what I wanted for "my space" it was clear that I had to channel those maximalist palm beach vibes.

That pale pink, the scallops, and those green and white stripes are exactly the vibe i'm going for.
This...ALL of this! I mean, look at those banana leaves!

3) Window Treatment: I designed a custom cornice board made with Lilly Pulitzer for Lee Jofa fabric years ago as a store display at work. A few months later my boss was ready to switch out the displays and this was going to be thrown out! Obvs, I had to save this masterpiece from the landfill. Since it was only one cornice and the fabric is now discontinued, it sat in my attic for years while I figured out where I could use it. I've gotta be honest, the Tail Lights print still is da bomb and I get giddy every time I look at it.

4) Flooring- LifeProof Luxury Vinyl Flooring "Dusk Cherry": I love the look of hardwood floors, but since this is a shed (an incredibly glamorous one, but alas, still a shed), I decided a more affordable option was in line. This vinyl looks so much like the real thing and was something my hubby could easily DIY. No tools necessary, just click together and go.
5) Craft Storage: IKEA: I'm using a combo of Eket, Brimnes, Lack, Sockerbit, and Linnmon/ Alex pieces from IKEA. My goal is for everything to have a place and everything to be in its place (One can dream can't they???). Fun tip, if you love the look and functionality of the Kallax cube unit, but need it to be wall mounted, Eket is exactly what you're looking for. You can build your own custom configuration right on the Ikea site, including open and closed shelving. Plus, these cubes fit the Ikea Tjena lidded boxes perfectly for even more organized storage options.
Ikea Sockerbit boxes - The perfect shade of pink and super affordable! FYI, these fit sewing patterns like a glove.
6) Ginger Jars Galore!: I run an online vintage shop on the side (cough, cough, Lemon House Vintage on Etsy, cough). I’m looking forward to displaying some of my favorite blue and white finds as well as some temple jar murals! Think Lilly Pulitzer dressing rooms...
My favorite Lilly Pulitzer dressing room at The Breakers, Palm Beach, FL
7) Lilly Pulitzer for Target Pouf in "Boom Boom": Okay, I might have stalked the Target website on that fateful night of the Lilly for Target drop in 2015. I got in like a ninja, filling my online cart with pillows, poufs, and patio umbrellas at 3:00am. Still convinced, this was the BEST. DECISION. EVER. Although this collection is no longer available in stores, you can still snag these secondhand on Ebay or Poshmark every now and then.
Image via Pinterest
8) Wicker Swing: I’m going to hang a vintage wicker swing in the shed to create a corner to unwind in. Whether I’m stitching, or more likely, scrolling my phone, this burned out mama needs a place to escape. If you are looking for a similar look, this one by Wayfair is just the ticket.
9) The Emily & Merritt Bold Stripe Airgo Swivel Desk Chair by Pottery Barn Teen: I’m upgrading my rolling chair to this lovely model with those iconic pink stripes! Plus, the shiny gold legs are a nice bonus. Update: This chair was recently discontinued in this color option, but it is still available in black and white stripes!
10) Lilly Pulitzer for Target Throw Pillows in "Nosey Posey": Yes, I know what you're thinking, these are from the same 2015 Lilly for Target online shopping spree. Don't judge me. My name is Alexandra, and I may have a Lilly problem.
I'd cover everything in this print if I could...
11) Boxwood Wall: This may be the most off the wall (I love puns) element of this design. I plan on installing an entire accent wall of faux boxwood for extra drama. I’m just an extra kind of lady. Check out my other recent blog post for pics and a tutorial on how I did this!
